23-5 I think...I lost track!

Last night we played baseball out in Laguna. I have been to some windy games before but this was CRAZY! I am not sure how they pitched unless they aimed for the side of the fence and the wind carried the ball over to the plate.

Josh made some great plays. He caught a great hit while playing 2nd base and was smiling after that catch. He had a few really good hits and I think he scored 3 times. He was safe at 1st but the ump threw him out. (According to my video he was safe. But when it is that close, sometimes bad calls are made!) Thanks to the wind, his bunts blew out of play. That sucked. He pitched the last inning and did a good job.

Great game Galt Thunder!

HOPE...

Today was Relay for Life in Galt. Rachel spent the day at the high school with a few of her friends. It is amazing to me how many people's lives have been touched by Cancer. I cannot believe that my mom has been gone for going on 7 years! That seems crazy to me! But as I think back over the years, there has been a lot that she has missed and that brings tears to my eyes. It is hard to sit still at something like that and not want to just break down and lose it. I miss my mom, but I know that she is watching over me.
I am sorry if you have lost someone to cancer. I 'hope' that you have not but if you have, I know how you feel...

Happy Birthday...William Shakespeare

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears! HUH?

What do you mean you didn't know it was his birthday? Crazy that I know, but this is my father in me. I love Shakespeare. I have fond memories of watching plays with my dad at CSUS, sitting in our row at the back of the theatre. I always thought it was strange to be watching Shakespeare with him and he would just start cracking up. NO ONE ELSE WAS LAUGHING, BUT MY DAD! It was intriguing to me. I started to pay more attention to what was being said and it was funny. When dad died, I had to have his Shakespeare books and I got them. (No Rock, Paper, Scissors for those books!) So maybe the reason that I love Shakespeare has nothing to do with Shakespeare, but has everything to do with my Dad. I guess I am paying tribute to both of them today.

All the world's a stage,
and all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
and one man in his time plays many parts.

Such is life...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILL!

We have an MVP in the family!

Last night Rachel was awarded the MVP award for her Volleyball team. She has played for Twin Cities Volleyball team for 3 years now. This is something that she has really enjoyed. The first year she played she did not really know anyone on the team. Now she has many of her close friends playing as well. She loves volleyball and is excited to try out for high school VB later this summer. Her position is setter and she does it well.

Congratulations Rachel...You deserve it!

Happy 96th birthday, Grandpa Smart!!!

Saturday, we spent some time out at Grandpa and Grandma Smart's home in Fair Oaks. We were celebrating the 96th b-day of Max Smart. WOW! There of course was a lot of family there. It is always nice to see my Dad's brothers. It is days like this that I miss him being here. We had a nice lunch out in the yard. I love the smell of all the flowers in full bloom. The gardens were beauiful, as they have been every year since I can remember! There have been many memories created out at that house. The cousins played together out on the front lawn and of couse we spent a lot of time talking to familiar faces. Sometimes I even knew who the person was that I was talking too! HAH! It was a nice afternoon.

Thank you Grandpa and Grandma. We love you!
And by the way, yes, David has a carrot in his mouth...

Josh was robbed!!!

Last night at baseball, Josh hit a triple. We were so excited and so was he for that matter! He said he stepped on the bag, they said he didn't. Blah, blah, blah...I say, "He has never missed the bag before...
WHY WOULD HE START NOW!!!"

Keep swingin' Josh, there are more in your future...
