Josh vs Brian

I often write on here about Rachel and her friends, but not about Josh and his friends. Josh has been friends with Brian since Kindergarten. Now boys don't go around saying who their 'best friend' is, but if Josh had to pick one, it would be Brian. They were in different classes, but Josh's kinder teacher was Brian's mom, Kristin or Mrs. Szyper-sounds like zipper. They were on the same team their first year playing baseball. That was the beginning of a great friendship and many years of playing ball together. The first time Josh spent the night at the Szyper home, Kristin's husband Toby asked,
"Does Josh come with instructions?"
I am not sure what happened that night, but I do know that they have spent a lot of time together since age 5. And whether they are playing soccer or baseball or just hanging out, I am glad that these guys are great friends!!!

Ocassionally, the boys play against each other and Josh hates it!!! Today was one of those days. There is no pressure involved in playing against friends...WHATEVER! Luckily they both played well and hit off each other, they did not strike each other out and after the game they are still friends...Even though they beat us this time 7-1 BUT last time we beat them 13-0!

And this cute guy is Colby Jax! He is Brian's little bro who loves Josh and who Josh totally loves right back!

SHEESH...FINALLY!!!

So while I was in the Bay Area, Josh was playing baseball. I looked at my phone several times and realized that his 9:00 game had started. I wondered what was going on and how he was playing. My phone rings about 9:25ish and I see that it is David calling. I thought, "Great he hit a home run and I missed it!"

Hello?
Hi Mom.
Josh?
Yeah.
What are you doing?
I got ejected.
WHAT?
I got ejected from the game.
WHY?
I ran into the pitcher?
What? You ran into the catcher?
No, I ran into the pitcher.
WHY?
He was on the baseline, blocking the plate and I was stealing home on a dropped third strike. I ran into the pitcher, so they threw me out of the game. I am sitting in the stands.

Uncle Todd said, "You are not a real baseball player until you get ejected from a game."

WELCOME TO THE BIG LEAGUES JOSH HARRIS!!!
You are officially a REAL baseball player...

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

Baseball season has begun! Josh was drafted by the Braves this year. I am happy to be in the stands watching baseball again. I look forward to it every year. He has been hitting very well so far. He has hit a double in each of the games he has played.

HE'S BACK...early!

You might have heard about the fires in Pollock Pines on Thursday. The kids were evacuated after lunch from Sly Park. The fire was within 10 miles of their facility. They were told to pack up their things and then they were loaded onto buses and sent down to a local high school to wait for everyone. The kids came home without their gear. Hopefully it will come back today. They could not take chances with the wind shifting.

Of course, Josh complained about coming home early and he missed a few fun things like building his shelter and performing his skit. He was really upset about that one...HAHA!

And then of course he wanted to know why he had to go to school today???

Where is Josh???

Strange but the house is much quieter this week. Our nights are free. No baseball this week. Josh is at Sly Park for Science Camp.

Did you go to Sly Park in 6th grade??? I did and I went again with Rachel 2 years ago. Both times I was in Manzanita cabin/dorm. It looked the same as it did when I was 12. I walked into the same room I slept in 23ish years ago...WEIRD! We went in the winter with Rachel and it snowed almost the whole week. I was not prepared for that. I grew up in Elk Grove, not in the mountains or in the snow. We still made silk-screened t-shirts and Josh will make one too. It is kinda cool to be able to say, "I did that as a kid."

Josh will be home on Friday. I am waiting for them to post their cabin pictures on-line, so I can see which cabin he is in! I can't wait until Friday, to hear his stories of the camp and then to go to baseball practice...
